  • Understand why businesses need to consider succession planning and to be able to explain the implications of not having a succession plan
  • Be aware of the different methods of business succession planning and when it is appropriate to use each method
  • Understand the use of trusts and option agreements and how they should be completed to ensure tax efficiency
  • Be aware of the need  for premium equalisation and how it should be done to ensure the scheme remains commercial
  • Be able to explain the tax treatment of the premiums, whether paid by the company or the individual, and the claim proceeds
  • Know where and how to access Zurich support for business succession planning
