L&G SmartrRefer Service for Mortgage Advisers: Connect for Intermediaries is proud to be one of Legal & General Club’s recommended partners for SmartrRefer support.
Through our L&G SmartrRefer packaging and referral service, mortgage advisers can access experienced placement support, specialist lending knowledge and a clear route for cases that need more than a standard lender search.
This page is for advisers who want practical help with complex cases, packaging, referrals, lender placement and long-term business growth through a complete mortgage and protection network.
What Connect can help with
Connect can assist L&G advisers with a wide range of enquiries, including:
- Complex buy-to-let cases
- Complex residential mortgages
- Commercial mortgages
- Semi-commercial property finance
- Bridging finance
- Development finance
- Second charge mortgages
- Expat and foreign national applications
- Equity release and later life lending
- Business finance enquiries

If your client’s circumstances are not straightforward, our team can help you review the case, consider available lender routes and decide whether packaging or referral is the most suitable next step.
Mortgage packaging support for L&G advisers
Connect has supported mortgage advisers since 1998. Our role is to help brokers place cases more confidently, manage packaging requirements more clearly and access wider lending options where a case does not fit a straightforward route.
Our team can support advisers with packaged applications, case placement and referral options across mainstream and specialist lending.
This means you can use Connect in the way that suits your business:
- Package a case with Connect while keeping control of your client relationship.
- Refer a client when you do not have the permission, time or specialist knowledge to advise directly.
- Speak with our team before submission to understand potential lender options.
- Use our broker portal to submit enquiries, upload documents and track progress.
- Access support that fits both mainstream and specialist mortgage advice.
Connect is not only a specialist packaging route. We are a comprehensive mortgage and protection network built to support advisers across residential, buy-to-let, commercial, bridging, second-charge, development finance, protection, and general insurance.

3. Choose packaging or referral
You can decide whether to package the case with Connect or refer the client to a suitable adviser.
4. Track progress
The broker portal lets you monitor progress, upload documents securely and stay updated throughout the application.

Where commission is payable, Connect pays advisers within three working days of receiving funds from the provider.
Procuration Fee and Packaging Fee Details
For your first packaged case with Connect, the application fee is reduced to £99.
For later-packaged cases, the application fee is £199 for a full application. This fee is taken only once we have secured a decision in principle or an initial commitment to lend.
When you use Connect as your mortgage packager, you receive 100 per cent of the broker commission listed in our package commission table. Connect does not normally charge any additional broker fee.
If a fee is required for a specific lender or case type, we will confirm this upfront and explain how it applies before the case proceeds.
If you choose to refer a client instead of using packaging, you may receive a share of the agreed commission and a share of any offer or completion fees paid by the client.
All advisers registered with Connect benefit from fast commission payments. We automatically pay commissions within three working days of receiving funds from the provider.
